"So Beck, have you met any guys yet? I haven't seen you with any, and it's starting to worry me," Phoebe laughed, and Rebecca just looked away and blushed.
It had been a few months since the girls had moved into their dorm, and it was almost time for their final exams. Phoebe and Rebecca were taking a break in front of the television before going back to finishing their term papers.

"No, I haven't met any boys. I think college might really have changed me. I'm going to make the dean's list this semester, Phoebe, and that really makes me feel so proud of myself. You might make a scholar of me yet! In fact, Professor Fuchs is coming over later to tutor me before our final."
"Well, that certianly is out of character for you, Beck, but I've never doubted your intelligence. Go for it! I'm going to go back to my room and write my term paper now...I'm proud of you too. I want you to know that."
Phoebe was just closing the door to her dorm room when she heard the dorm's security intercom buzz. That must be Professor Fuchs, she thought to herself, and smiled. I should go say hello, and put a good word in for Beck.
Phoebe put on her best smile, strode across the hall to the study lounge, and opened the door.

What Phoebe saw made her smile. Well, I guess she was embarassed to tell me she met a guy...wait. No! It can't be...

It was Professor Fuchs, and Phoebe now knew how Rebecca was managing to get straight A's that semester. Phoebe let out a soft cry and fled from the room. Rebecca, looking up to see who had made the noise, realized what had happened and caught up with her.

"Are you ok?" Rebecca asked.
"Do I look ok? You just lied to me! You told me you were actually working hard this semester! Do you have any idea how time consuming it is to actually maintain a 4.0 GPA? No! Because you whore yourself out to your professors, and you get the benefit of your A's from fooling around, not from studying late into the night. That's just wrong, and it's not fair! I don't want to speak to you. You make me sick." Phoebe was screaming, tears streaming down her face, when Dahlia rushed in from outside, a huge smile on her face.
"Guys, you'll never believe what just happened!"

"I was out front playing kicky-ball with Prof. Suzanne, trying to get to know her better, and this guy walked by, and he was so cute, and our eyes just met and it was just...so..." She sighed.

"Anyway, his name is Derek, and he's really nice..."

"And we talked for, like, a long time, and he even flirted with me...girls, I know it's just our first semester, but I think he is the one.

"That's great, Dahlia." Rebecca cheered. Phoebe just looked off into the distance, and that is when Dahlia noticed that she had been crying...
***I just want to thank everyone for their wonderful comments. I've never written this kind of fiction before, and it is nice to know that I am succeeding at least somewhat! I am really enjoying these characters so far, and I hope you keep reading. Again...thanks for the support!***
